Transition Year Philosophy project
Date of Submission: Monday 13th November 2017 (please do not submit work after this deadline)
To do:
- read the information contained in the 'Ethics: Ethical Dilemmas' section of this website.
- recap Plato's philosophy (access the PowerPoint in the 'Ancient and Medieval Philosophy' section of this website).
- watch the videos in 'The Search for Meaning' tab on this website.
You have been approached by your school to give a speech, to future Transition Year students, on how to live an authentic, happy life. Your speech should include your reflections on the philosophy of Plato and your reflections on some key aspects on what you think it means to be a good, moral and ethical person.
In your discussion, you should also discuss what you feel are the factors that stop people from leading an authentic life. You could discuss the influence of/impact that family, friends, the media and wider society has on living an authentic, happy life.
To make the speech more personal, discuss how your overall experiences in Transition Year, so far, have helped you in your journey to leading a more authentic, happy life.
- You may type up and submit the speech, via the online option below, making sure you have your name written on the actual document itself.
- You also have the option to write the speecj and hand up this physical copy directly to Mr Rolston.
- Marks will be awarded for engagement with the content covered in class, personal response and depth of discussion (aim for between 250-350 words).
